Stress

I'm pretty sure I've gone over this topic before, but as the end of the school year draws near I feel obliged to bring it up yet again. Do you remember what the end of the year was like in middle school? The last week of school was always the best because it was straight up parties and hanging out during class. After all, nothing really counted any more, grades were already pretty much up and the only thing left to do was relax and wait for summer to come. Now though? Finals week.
I really want someone, preferably a teacher, to explain to me the point of finals week. All it does is cause children unnecessary stress and anxiety all for some stupid tests, most of which are worth a lot more than they should be. For most teachers, finals week is when they test everything that we've learned. Why? What's that even going to do? If we fail it are you going to re-teach us? I think that they should only give finals to failing students. The students that have straight As must know the material, after all they've passed the tests that they had taken earlier in the year. But if the final comes up and they've had a shitty day or something and they bomb it then poof, there goes the straight As.
Sometimes finals aren't even worth that much. In my math class last year I got a C on my math final and still had an A in the class. I'm really confused as to how this happens because... just.. BECAUSE. It doesn't make a lick of sense to me! Finals are just as effective as exit exams, and we all know how worthless those things are. This is about stress though, and boy is finals week damn stressful. All weeks beforehand we have one key phrase drilled into our heads "IF YOU FAIL YOUR FINALS YOU FAIL THE CLASS." look at that sentence and tell me that it doesn't cause any worry for the people taking the tests. I'm the most nervous about... well all of my finals are making me nervous.
I fell asleep for the second half of the math year so I don't remember anything
Art final is a presentation and I have 'stage fright'
History final has a shitload of questions and since we're doing a research report we don't have time to study.
English final is A-OK. Thanks Sutherland :)
Judo final is the WORST because we have to demonstrate a bunch of stuff and I'm not the best at judo.
I don't understand french.
See what I'm dealing with here? I'm only okay with one of the finals and it's the one for my English class, I have an A in it anyway. I have a 4.0 right now, if I keep it then next summer (not this summer) I get to go on a trip to Russia. Do you know how badly I want to go to Russia? I could kill someone if it meant going there, that's how bad I want to go. My parents offered to let me go this summer but I decided to go to something else instead, something more important to me (an anime convention LOL) but.. maybe if I save up and get good grades then my parents will let me go in the summer. Maybe they'll even let me go for a semester or something! that'd be so badass. Then again, however, I want to be comfortable speaking the language.
Everyone gets stressed during finals week though, the only comforting feeling that I have is that everyone is in the same boat, I don't have a right to complain much. I hope I don't crack under the pressure though... I feel like one day I will. Of the classes I take tests for I'm the most worried about math and judo, since they're the classes that I have the most erm.. difficulty with (I don't have trouble in either, but I'm uncomfortable with testing in those classes.) The Rules of Love ~

Well, in my opinion the rules of loves depends on the person in question. You see, everyone has their own set of rules and expectatios when it comes to something like dating. For most people, dating is a one at a time thing that goes in these steps:
    1. Hanging out, decision to go on an actual date.
    2. First date, getting to know each other.
    3. Decide if you're a 'couple' or not. KISS.
    4. Whatever comes after a lot of dating.
That's at least how I personally see it. In terms of rules being violated, I'm not entirely sure. I suppose for most people, violating the rules differs depending on severity. The most severe being uh... getting pregnant or something when you're still young. Sex is a common thing now, everyone who's anyone in a long-term relationship has done it. There's also the basic rules like don't cheat, don't lie, don't avoid your partner etc. Another thing having to do with sex and popularity is that a girl can only have a few partners before she's labeled a slut. When a girl dates a lot of guys then guys don't feel as 'special' when dating them. It's about the same vice verse but when a guy dates a lot of girls he's more respected than he is hated.
Consequences? Well your relationship could be ruined and no one will want to date you in fear that they're just one of a series. When people date they want to feel loved and special to someone that isn't in their family. It's like the most extreme self-esteem booster to know that some guy likes you THAT much in comparison to long friends and family who are pretty much forced to like you, it shows that your personality isn't holding you back.
As for rules about dating, people like to be nit-picky and make up their own little pet peeves. For instance, some people don't like bad breath so they don't date anyone with bad breath. Some people don't like annoying laughs so they don't date anyone with an annoying laugh, things like that. It depends on the person. I think people now are a lot more picky then they were back then though, I'm not sure why but it seems a lot harder to be in a relationship now. In the video showed during class things seemed so simple, people asked each other on dates like a day after they met. I also noticed that in the videos (and commonly) it was the boy who asked the girl on a date. Since when did this end? I liked it more, it seemed more gentlemanly. Nowadays it doesn't matter who asks who, in fact I think girls ask boys more often than boys ask girls! It's the same with proms and stuff, the boy is ALWAYS supposed to ask the girl (unless it's one of those dances where the girls ask the boys.) Now, however, I see an equal amount of girls asking boys to dances. Man it up men, take back your rightful place. We don't bite, nothing bad's gonna happen if you ask us out. The worst we could do is deny you and then afterward everything is peachy. We're not going to punch you and spread nasty rumors, what would we even make the rumors about? I dunno.
That's actually the main problem people have, I read this statistic about what guys want to see in a girl and the #1 thing was for the girl to ask him out. WHY? WHY DON'T YOU ASK US OUT? If we live the rest of our lives too pussy to ask anything then nothing is going to happen, we're going to grow up alone and die alone because we were too scared to ask that 'special someone' out. I asked my family from Chicago and what they told me was interesting, they told me that there's not really any dating. It's just "will you be my boyfriend/girlfriend" and then "yes/no" and then whatever, i actually like the simplicity of it but isn't it weird being the girlfriend of someone you don't know very well? I'm unsure. Anyway this ended up a lot longer than what I wrote on the paper.

RAAAAGE

If you can believe it, this blog post actually started out with the title of 'Friendship', I was going to describe how I learned how much I like making friends. Thanks to some very current events though, I've decided to blog about how much people annoy the fuck out of me. Call me selfish and annoying, but these are the things that piss me off the most:
    1. Being Disrespectful.
I absolutely despise when people disrespect their superiors, I think it's the single most annoying thing that someone can ever do. I mean is it that hard to shut up for a little while? I admit sometimes I do it but I'm not a total jackass about it, sometimes I even do it subconsciously, I just can't understand why people obnoxiously talk over a teacher or dick around during class. This class is a perfect example of this pet peeve. We're in a computer lab, there's so much entertainment right in front of you; freedom to work or read or do pretty much anything and what do I see almost half the class doing? Playing Tetris, talking about things unrelated to class, hitting the computers, looking at bicycles on Google, et cetera. Really now. What the shit is wrong with these people? Now I'm not trying to be too general about this, not everyone in the class is jerking off, some people are doing legitimate work. Another thing, I really dislike when people play music aware of the fact that EVERYONE ELSE CAN HEAR IT. I understand if it's a bit loud and you don't notice it, but when it's to the point that you feel as though you're the one with the headphones on, it gets a bit tiring. Not everyone likes the same music you do.

    2. Complaining without justification.
I'm pretty precise about this one because I don't hate complaining in and of itself, i hate it when there's no reason for it. For example if someone has to do the dishes, they don't have the right to complain; if someone is having major relationship issues, they do have the right to complain. Do you see what I'm getting at? I used to have a friend that would complain nonstop to the point where I had no idea what to say to the complaints. I think I started ignoring her actually, and then she got really angry and said that I was a horrible friend. Well... what else was I supposed to say to her complaints? Half of what I said was the same thing repeated (usually something like 'it'll be fine')  I dunno, I do know that I don't like it. Another kind of complaining that I don't really like is when they complain, ask for your opinion, and then shut it down when you tell them; I guess they're just asking something like that purely for the satisfaction of getting an answer that they want, so when they get an answer that they don't want then they reject it all together. I'm actually complaining about complaining, how ironic.

I actually think that's about it. How do you deal with it Sutherland? People being so annoying all the time during your class and blowing things off and talking all the time. I'd be hitting them upside the head every second. I don't know maybe my anger tolerance level is very low, in fact I'm sure that it is. It must be a lot of pressure though, to get so much from people as a teacher? Agh but I digress, I'm not sure how to finish off this blog post :/ Goodbye?

passive voice

passive voice

Quiet was the mountains as the grass was shaken by the wind. Not a noise was heard other than the cawing that was from the bird. High in the sky was the sun and the mountains sparkled, their beauty was given away by how striking the sun made everything look. All at once the scene was destroyed when a boom was caused by a cloud overhead. Caws came from the birds and barks came from the animals below as rain came from the clouds. The trees were torn apart by the ferocious wind. Bolts of lightning were thrust down from the clouds and loud booms came from all over the valley. A lone tree was standing in the center, it seemed like the weather was not having an effect on it because it was remaining perfectly still.
Agh, so that's as much as I can even manage with the whole passive/active voice thing, maybe I'll do a whole blog post one day. I don't think it even made much (if any) sense. Ahhh well, happy mother's day. I apologize to mr. Sutherland for the late blog post. I couldn't type it up on friday because our internet has been going on and off and on and off and this weekend it decided to stay off. Luckily we got an electrician to fix it so no worries, it should stay fine for a pretty long time. On the downside, i don't have much to talk about; for once I've ran out of ranting topics! Wowee! I've decided to take a debate topic from my friend's class and use it.
So her debate topic was something along the lines of making the legal drinking age higher or lower. Personally? I think it should stay exactly the same. The only people who want lowered only want it lowered so they can get drunk and do stupid shit. All I'm saying is that people who want it lowered probably drink alcohol anyway, making the legal drinking age lower would just allow them to do it legally. I understand this though, alcohol isn't good for you at all and I'm assuming that the younger you start drinking it, the worse of an effect it has on you. I understand people wanting to abolish the marijuana law or whatever because pot isn't as bad for you as smoking is. There are even little mechanisms that make it so that you get high without inhaling any smoke, I forget what it's call though so look it up. I dunno though, that's just my personal opinion.
Sutherland brought up a nifty subject today, privacy. I have a hand in both sides when it comes to privacy. I like being open with friends and such but I am SOOO private when it comes to my parents. I absolutely hate when my parents try to nose their way into my personal life. Why? I don't know, I think it's because with the embarrassing stuff I'd feel worse if they knew. That and I'd probably be living with them for the longest time (until college starts/) I don's understand why people put their personal information on FaceBook and such. One time I was on AIM and some girl had her personal phone number as her little status thing. Seriously how dumb can you be? I just don't understand it. I myself am not that afraid of 'online predators'. I mean I've met many of people from online and they're all extremely nice, I hate how overprotective my parents are about it, it makes me want to punch an infant.
